• The Lead: Freshman Joe Egan finished in third place as an individual, as the Holy Cross men's golf team placed second out of eight schools in the Bentley Newport Classic at the Newport National Golf Club in Middletown, R.I.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Egan shot a two-over-par round of 74, two finish just two strokes out of first place.
• Sophomore Roger Larrivee and freshman Jake Peer tied for fourth place, each carding a three-over-par 75.
• Junior Connor McGuirk and sophomore Joe Blando, Jr. came in 23rd and 27th, respectively, with scores of 80 and 82.
• UMass Lowell won the event with a 12-over-par total of 300 strokes.
• Bentley's Malcolm Oliver was the individual medalist, carding an even-par round of 72.
