The Lead: Three members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team competed in the 22nd annual Rhode Island Pentathlon on Friday morning, as senior co-captain Alexa Eldracher placed fourth, sophomore Lauren Rasmus finished fifth and senior co-captain Jennifer Kimball took seventh.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eldracher tallied 3,080 points, setting a new personal record in the shot put with a 10.27-meter toss. For timed events, she recorded a 9.78 mark in the 60-meter hurdles and a time of 2:40.92 in the 800-meter run. She cleared a height of 1.52 meters in the high jump and 5.05 meters in the long jump.
- Rasmus registered a time of 2:34.54 for the best performance for the Crusaders in the 800-meter run. She totaled 2,967 points with a distance of 4.91 meters in the long jump, 8.87 meters in the shot put, a cleared height of 1.52 meters in the high jump and recorded a time of 10.09 in the 60-meter hurdles.
- Kimball logged 2,902 points, leading the way for Holy Cross in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.63 and in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.58 meters. She leaped for a distance of 4.77 meters in the long jump, threw the shot put 9.21 meters and recorded a time of 2:53.21 in the 800-meter run.
- Rhode Island's Janel Conley won the pentathlon with a score of 3,945 points, placing first overall in four out of five of the events.
