Men's Hockey Signs Three To National Letters Of Intent

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross head men's hockey coach David Berard has announced that three student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play for the Crusaders. Frank Boie (Needham, Mass.), Logan Ferguson (Calgary, Alberta) and Dryden McKay (Downers Grove, Ill.) will join the Holy Cross program in the Fall of 2017.

“We are excited to welcome Frank, Logan and Dryden to Holy Cross,” said Berard. “They are very talented hockey players that provide valuable depth, speed and skill at every position and enhance our style of play. They are outstanding students and committed athletes that fit perfectly into the culture of our school and program. We are delighted that they are joining us and we look forward to their arrival in the Fall of 2017."


Boie is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound defenseman, who plays for head coach Bobby Henderson for the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). So far this season, he has appeared in 24 games with three goals and three assists for six points. Boie went to The Rivers School where he played four seasons of varsity hockey for head coach Shawn McEachern. He was awarded the Paul Light Award his senior year for being named the team MVP as well as earning The Rivers School Scholar Athlete Award. The team won the 2014 and 2016 Eberhart championship. He earned 2015-2016 first team All-League accolades. For his career, Boie posted 10 goals and 44 assists for 54 points.

Ferguson is a 6-foot, 180-pound forward, who plays for head coach Andrew Milne for the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Ferguson is the captain of his team for the 2016-2017 season. This season he has played in 22 games with 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points. He ranks second in the AJHL in goals and is fourth in points. Ferguson was named the team MVP in 2015-2016 as the leading scorer with 22 goals, 50 assists and 72 points. Ferguson has 126 career points with 44 goals and 82 assists. He was invited to the Team Canada West Selection Camp in December of 2015.

McKay is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound goalie, who plays for head coach Garret Suter for the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League (USHL). This season he has played in seven games with a 4-2-0 record and a .925 save percentage. In 2014-2015, McKay was named the Academic Player of the Year by the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and was the Rookie of the Year for the Springfield Jr. Blues. Then in the 2015-2016 season, he earned team MVP accolades for the Corpus Christi IceRays (NAHL).

The Crusaders (5-3-2, 2-2-2 Atlantic Hockey) will return to action on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26, when they travel to South Bend, Ind, to compete at the Shillelagh Tournament. On Friday, the Crusaders will take on tournament host No. 9 Notre Dame at 7:35 p.m., while they will play either Clarkson or Yale on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
