  • The Lead: Syracuse guard Andre White totaled 19 points, three rebounds and three assists, as the 18th-ranked Orange posted a 90-46 victory over the Holy Cross men's basketball team at the Carrier Dome.

 

MAN OF THE MATCH PRESENTED BY THE UNITED STATES MARINES:

  • After the game, senior guard Anthony Thompson was selected as the United States Marines Man of the Match.
  • Thompson recorded 12 points and two rebounds on the night, while hitting four of nine attempts from three-point range.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The score was tied at 5-5 early on, before Syracuse scored eight straight points to claim the lead.
  • The Orange were still up by eight (22-14) with 9:53 left in the first half, when they used a 14-0 run to take control of the game.
  • Syracuse led by at least 18 points for the rest of the half, and eventually took a 49-23 advantage into the locker room.
  • The Orange continued to control the game throughout the second half, leading by as many as 48 points before finally posting a 90-46 victory.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Syracuse shot 57.9 percent from the field, 52.0 percent from three-point range and 84.6 percent at the free throw line.
  • Holy Cross was only able to connect on 30.9 percent of its shots from the floor, 28.1 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc and 37.5 percent of its foul shots.
  • The Orange also held a 39-27 rebounding advantage on the night.

 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Freshman guard Clayton Le Sann scored the first four points of his collegiate career, hitting two of three field goal attempts.
  • The crowd of 21,405 was the second-largest to ever see Holy Cross play, and the most ever for the Crusaders in the regular season.
