• The Lead: Senior forward Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) totaled 12 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two assists, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Bucknell 70-57 at Sojka Pavilion.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Bison started the game hot, jumping out to an early 16-7 lead after the first eight minutes play.
• The Crusaders responded with a 17-5 spurt over the next five minutes, to pull in front by three (24-21).
• Holy Cross went on to increase its lead to four points late in the half, before taking a 27-25 advantage into the locker room.
• A three-pointer by junior guard Cullen Hamilton (Washington, D.C.) to open the second half put the Crusaders up by five (30-25), before Bucknell used a quick 8-2 run to pull back in front.
• Holy Cross was able to regain a small lead (39-37) with 11:58 left to play, when the Bison went on a 13-4 run to pull ahead for good.
• The Crusaders would get no closer than eight points in the final six minutes, as Bucknell hit 22 of 26 free throws in the second half to pull out the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Holy Cross was only able to hit 30.6 percent of its field goal attempts (15 of 49) and 61.8 percent of its free throws (21 of 34) on the day.
• Bucknell knocked down 46.7 percent of its shots from the floor (21 of 45) and 71.4 percent of its foul shots (25 of 35).
• Sophomore forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) finished the game with 11 points and eight rebounds for Holy Cross.
• The Bison were led by John Azzinaro with 14 points, while Zach Thomas added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
