HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Franklin Pierce jumped out to an early 1-0 (11:26) lead nine minutes into the first period on a goal by Matsumoto. From the left wing, Hayley Arnold sent a slap shot towards the net as the puck deflected off of Matsumoto and landed out of the reach of senior goalie Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.).
  • The first period drew to a close as Holy Cross entered the locker room down 1-0 as both teams had seven shots on goal.
  • No scoring was done by Holy Cross or Franklin Pierce during the second stanza as the Crusaders outshot the Ravens 13-6.
  • Holy Cross went on the power-play four times in the second period, but were unable to find the back of the net while Franklin Pierce went 0 for 3.
  • With 1:20 remaining in regulation, Holy Cross pulled Stevenson from the game and gave Franklin Pierce a chance to put the game away. The Ravens took advantage of Stevenson's absence from the net as they went up 2-0 on an empty net goal (19:51) shot from outside the blue line by Harron with .09 seconds remaining with the assist credited to Colleen Doucette.
  • Franklin Pierce goalie Shannon O'Neil was lights out as she stopped all 30 Crusaders shots that came her way as the Ravens came away with the 2-0 victory as Holy Cross dropped to 12-6-2 and 8-3-2 in ECAC East play.
