HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders were clinging to a four-point lead (57-53) with two minutes left in regulation, before Tyler Hubbard converted a three-point play for the Greyhounds to make the score 57-56.
  • After sophomore forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) knocked down both ends of a one-and-one to put Holy Cross back up by three, Loyola's Andre Walker drained a short jumper in the lane to make it 59-58.
  •  Franz Rassman would then hit a pair of free throws after being fouled while grabbing an offensive rebound, to give the Greyhounds their first lead of the second half (60-59) with 37.2 seconds to go.
  • But Miller was fouled while driving to the basket on the next possession, and made both free throws with 24.8 seconds left to put the Crusaders back in front for good.
  • After Loyola was unable to convert on its next trip down the court, Miller hit two more free throws with 0.7 seconds on the clock to conclude the scoring.
  • The first half of the game featured four ties and 14 lead changes, with Holy Cross ending the half on a 6-2 run to take a 38-32 advantage into the locker room.
  • The Crusaders were later up by two points (41-39) with 15:32 left in regulation, before using a 10-3 spurt to take their largest lead of the night (51-42 with 9:13 remaining).
  • But the Greyhounds responded by scoring the next five points, to set up the exciting finish.
