• The Lead: Senior Oona Wood (Williamstown, Mass.) set a new school record in the 600 m run as the Crusaders opened their 2015-2016 season at the UMass Boston Indoor Open.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Freshman Alexandra Curtin (Winchester, Mass.) finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.92, followed by freshman Sarah Friess (Castleton on Hudson, N.Y.) in fourth at 8.04 and freshman Isabella DiMare (South Weymouth, Mass.) at 8.14.
• DiMare was the top runner for Holy Cross in the 200 m dash, finishing second with a time of 26.13. Friess finished fifth at 26.49, followed by freshman Eeliyah Beckham (Wilmington Del.) in eighth at 26.75.
• Senior Victoria Engvold (Niskayuna N.Y.) finished 11th in the 400 m dash at 1:01.27, followed by junior Gabriela West (Chester, N.J.) in 12th at 1:01.42 and sophomore Kelly O'Halloran (Litchfield, Conn.) in 13th at 1:01.44.
• Wood finished first in the 600 m run with a time of 1:36.97, followed by sophomore Meghan Dietter (Sherman, Conn.) in second at 1:39.10 and sophomore Stefanie McArdle (South Glastonbury, Conn.) in fifth at 1:40.39.
• In the 800 m run senior Erin Cunningham (Reading, Mass.) finished second at 2:26.34, while senior Hannah Carey (Windham, N.H.) finished seventh with a time of 2:33.86.
• Sophomore Alanna Hitscherich (Sussex, N.J.) finished first in the 60 m hurdle with a time of 9.12, followed by DiMare in second at 9.19 and sophomore Tori Zamarra (Manalapan N.J.) in fourth at 9.40.
• McArdle, Engvold, Dietter and Wood finished first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:03.19.
• Senior Melissa LaCoste (Amherst, N.H.) won the high jump at 1.65 m, followed by junior Jennifer Kimball (South Weymouth, Mass.) in third at 1.55 m and senior Morgan Zurlo (Glen Falls, N.Y.) in fifth at 1.55 m.
• Senior Alex Eckert (Bergenfield, N.J.) won the pole vault at 3.20 m, while junior Samantha Speroni (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif.) also registered 3.20 m.
• Curtin finished fourth in the long jump at 5.28 m, while Hitscherich finished sixth at 5.11 m and junior Alexa Eldracher (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished ninth at 5.06 m.
• Hitscherich won the triple jump with a mark of 11.14 m, while Eldracher came in second at 11.07 m.
• Junior Alliyah Veilleux (Winslow, Maine) came in eighth in shot put with a mark of 10.96 m, followed by senior Elizabeth Provost (Adams, Mass.) in ninth at 10.92 m and junior Cassie Kobelski (Andover, Mass.) in 11th at 10.51 m.
• In the weight throw, freshman Victoria Attaya (Billerica, Mass.) came in eighth with a mark of 11.64 m, followed by Veilleux in 11th at 10.74 m.

BEYOND THE RESULTS:

• Wood's time of 1:36.97 in the 600 m run was a new school record. The record was previously held by Birdget Ireland '84.
• Hitscherich's time of 9.12 in the 60 m hurdle was a new meet record.
• LaCoste's mark of 1.65 m in the high jump was a new meet record.

• The Crusaders will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 11 as they travel to Kingston R.I. to take part in the Rhode Island Pentathlon.
