• The Lead: Freshman forward Karl Charles posted career-highs of 15 points and seven rebounds, to lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to a 69-60 victory over Sacred Heart at the Hart Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Freshman guard Matt Zignorski finished with a career-high 13 points, while junior forward Malachi Alexander added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists
• Senior guard Cullen Hamilton and junior guard Anthony Thompson added 10 points each, to give the Crusaders five players in double-figures.
• The Pioneers were led by Tevin Falzon with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Cane Broome added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.
• Holy Cross committed just seven turnovers on the day, while forcing Sacred Heart to give the ball away 14 times.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The game was close early on, and the Pioneers held a 12-9 advantage after the first four minutes of play.
• The Crusaders then scored eight straight points to claim a five-point lead (17-12).
• Holy Cross would hold onto a small lead for the rest of the half, eventually taking a 39-34 edge into the locker room.
• The Crusaders stayed in front early in the second half, expanding their lead to seven points (51-44) with 10:46 remaining.
• Sacred Heart then went on a 7-0 to tie the score at 51-51, before five straight points from Thompson put Holy Cross back in front.
• The Crusaders were still clinging to a three-point lead (60-57) when Thompson drained a three-pointer with 2:57 on the clock to make the score 63-57.
• The Pioneers would get no closer than five points the rest of the way, as Holy Cross made six of eight free throws in the final minute to pull out the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• The Crusaders had a season-high five blocked shots on the day, including a career-best four blocks by junior center Matt Husek.
• Holy Cross improves to 7-5 all-time against Sacred Heart, including a 6-1 mark at the Hart Center.
