INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Miller hit five of 11 field goal attempts, three of six three-pointers and 10 of 11 free throws on the night, in addition to grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots.
  • Holy Cross made 85.7 percent of its free throws in the game (18 of 21), but was only able to connect on 30.8 percent of its field goal attempts (16 of 52) and 18.2 percent of its three-pointers (four of 22).
  • The Greyhounds knocked down  46.8 percent of their shots from the floor (22 of 47) and 45.5 percent of their three-pointers (five of 11), while also holding a 43-25 rebounding advantage.
  • Loyola was led by Andre Walker with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The game was close for the majority of the first half, and the score was tied at 11-11 with 9:24 remaining before the break.
  • Loyola scored the next four points to pull ahead, before a 4-0 run by the Crusaders a few minutes later made the score 18-18.
  • But the Greyhounds then used an 8-0 spurt over the final 2:01 of the half to take a 26-18 lead into the locker room.
  • Loyola opened the second half with a 7-3 run to build its lead up to 12 points (33-21) with 17:59 left in regulation.
  • Holy Cross was able to trim the margin down to seven points (41-34), before a 6-0 spurt gave the Greyhounds their biggest lead of the night (47-34) with 9:28 to go.
  • The Crusaders then went on a 10-1 run, including eight points from Miller, to make it a four-point game (48-44) with 5:52 remaining.
  • Holy Cross eventually closed to within three points (54-51) at the 2:16-mark, but Loyola was able to make all eight of its free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.

  • Holy Cross returns to action on Monday, Feb. 2, when it plays host to American at 7:35 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Eagles will be nationally televised on the CBS Sports Network.
