HOW IT HAPPENED

  •  Neither team was able to register a goal in the first period as Holy Cross outshot St. Anselm 9-7 as the period concluded.
  •  St. Anselm's offense took control over the Crusaders quickly into the second period on a power-play opportunity for the Hawks as Guy snuck the puck past senior goalie Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) and Sarah Geisinger was credited with the assist. Four minutes in, the Hawks took the 1-0 lead (3:48).
  •  Herron knocked in the Hawk's second goal of the period just six minutes later with assists credited to Guy and Geisinger, her second assist of the game. With the two-goal advantage, the Hawks were gaining momentum with the score increased to 2-0 (9:48).
  •  Showing no signs of slowing down, St. Anselm added onto their lead once again on a goal by Starzyk with the assists credited to Allison Quinn and Kazmer. As the period came to a close, the Crusaders saw themselves down 3-0 (11:40).
  •  Herron netted her second goal of the game eight minutes into the third period with an assist by Geisinger, her third and gave the Hawks a comfortable 4-0 lead (7:54).
  • With three minutes remaining in the final stanza of the game, Kazmer tallied her third goal of the season with the assist credited to Starzyk, increasing their lead to 5-0 (17:22).
  • Holy Cross outshot the Hawks 10-7 in the third, but it was not enough. St. Anselm goalie Lindsey Brown was able to keep the Crusaders quiet through 60 minutes of play and sealed the 5-0 Hawks victory.
