• The Lead: Hartford's Mark Nwakamma scored 29 points on 14 of 18 shooting from the field, to lead the Hawks to a 79-61 victory over the Holy Cross men's basketball team at the Hart Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The game was close throughout most of a first half which featured five ties and eight lead changes.
• Holy Cross led 18-17 with seven minutes to go before the break, when the Hawks scored seven straight points to pull in front.
• Hartford would maintain a small lead for the remainder of the half, eventually taking a 35-29 advantage into the locker room.
• After the Crusaders scored the opening basket of the second half to make the score 35-31, the Hawks went on an 11-2 run to extend their lead to double figures (46-33) with 15 minutes remaining in regulation.
• Hartford led by at least 11 the rest of the way and at one point was up by as many as 21, before finally claiming an 18-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Junior guard Cullen Hamilton (Washington, D.C.) led the Crusaders with 13 points while hitting five of seven field goal attempts and three of four shots from three-point range.
• Senior forward Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) added 12 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots.
• Senior guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.) had 10 points and three rebounds.
• The Hawks hit 61.1 percent of their field goal attempts on the night (33 of 54), while holding Holy Cross to 37.3 percent shooting from the floor (19 of 51).
• Hartford also had only six turnovers, while the Crusaders gave the ball away 14 times.
