• The Lead: Pittsburgh forward Jamel Artis totaled 13 points and nine rebounds, to lead the Panthers to a 58-39 victory over the Holy Cross men's basketball team at the Petersen Events Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• The Panthers hit 42.4 percent of their field goal attempts on the night (25 of 59), while limiting Holy Cross to just 30.0 percent shooting from the floor (15 of 50).
• Pittsburgh also held a 45-25 rebounding advantage, while committing just 11 turnovers.
• Senior forward Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) led the Crusaders with 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
• Senior guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.) added eight points, two rebounds and two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After the Panthers scored the first six points of the game, the Crusaders used a 5-0 spurt to make the score 6-5.
• Pittsburgh was still up by one point (10-9) with 11:47 left in the first half, before going on a 15-0 run over the next 6:08 to take a 25-9 advantage.
• The Panthers would eventually lead 27-14 heading into the locker room.
• Holy Cross trimmed the margin down to 10 points early in the second half, and was later down by 12 (33-21) with 16:31 left to play.
• But the Crusaders then went cold from the field again, scoring just two points in the next nine minutes as Pittsburgh built its lead up to 22 points (45-23).
• Holy Cross would get no closer than 16 the rest of the way, with the Panthers eventually posting a 19-point victory.
