• The Lead: Junior guard Cullen Hamilton (Washington, D.C.) scored a team-high 16 points on six of nine shooting from the field, as the Holy Cross men's basketball team defeated Nichols 101-70 at the Hart Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Hamilton led a group of four Crusaders who scored in double-figures.
• Senior guard Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) finished the night with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, while junior guard Eric Green (Mountain House, Calif.) added 14 points, three rebounds and two steals.
• Sophomore guard Anthony Thompson (Glenn Dale, Md.) also played well, totaling 10 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals.
• Holy Cross shot 57.4 percent from the field (39 of 68), while holding the Bison to just 38.7 percent shooting (24 of 62).
• The Crusaders also held a 41-31 rebounding advantage, and collected 13 steals while forcing Nichols to commit 18 turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The game was close throughout most of the first half, as Holy Cross led by just four points (33-29) with 5:46 left before the break.
• But the Crusaders then turned up their level of play on both ends of the court, outscoring the Bison 27-9 over the rest of the half to take a 60-38 lead into the locker room.
• Holy Cross went on to continue its strong play in the second half, eventually leading by as many as 35 points (88-53 with 9:21 remaining).
• Nichols would get no closer than 30 points the rest of the way, as the Crusaders went on to win by 31.
