a: Junior captain Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) was the top finisher for the Crusaders, taking 91st place of 275 runners with a time of 21:55.60 as Holy Cross finished 22nd overall at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Following Carley was freshman Hannah Jeter (Eden Prairie, Pa.), coming in 107th with a time of 22:11.10.
• Sophomore Rachel Sowinski (Mountain Top, Pa.) crossed the finish line in 110th at 22:13.
• Senior captain Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.), sophomores Mary Welsh (Manhasset, N.Y.), Caroline Carr (Ridgefield, Conn.) and freshman Alexandria Benoit (Chester, N.J.) rounded out the Crusader runners.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Carley improved her time from last season's NCAA Northeast Regional, going from 22:45.00 to 21:55.60.
• Sowinski also improved her time from last season, going from 23:10.70 to 22:13.80.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Holy Cross took 22nd of 40, finished with an overall team score of 649 points.
• Host Iona took first with a team score of 91 as Iona claimed three top-10 finishes.
• Iona's Kate Avery won the women's individual race, as classmates Rosie Clark finished second and Tara Jameson finished in seventh.
• Rounding out the top-five was Providence (128), Dartmouth (136), Syracuse (154) and Boston College (180).
