THE BASICS:

• The Lead: Sophomore quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) accounted for 290 yards of total offense, but the Holy Cross football team was defeated by Dartmouth 24-21 at Memorial Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior wide receiver Tyler Artim (Whitehall, Pa.) led the Crusaders with a career-high eight catches for 88 yards.
• Sophomore tailback Gabe Guild (Overland Park, Kan.) added 73 rushing yards on 14 carries.
• On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker John Zakrzewski (Traverse City, Mich.) totaled eight tackles with a sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
• The Big Green were led by Williams, who completed 15 of 23 passes for 156 yards and rushed 14 times for 64 yards.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After Dartmouth opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal by Alex Gakenheimer, Holy Cross tied the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter on a 26-yard field goal by junior placekicker Connor Fitzgerald (Bloomington, Ind.).
• Dalyn Williams would throw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Ryan McManus, before a 39-yard Fitzgerald field goal cut the Big Green lead to 10-6 at halftime.
• In the third quarter, Dartmouth used a seven-yard scoring strike from Williams to Kyle Bramble and a six-yard touchdown run by Brian Grove to make the score 24-6.
• Holy Cross responded in the fourth quarter with a four-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Shane Taylor (St. Paul, Minn.) and a six-yard scoring strike from Pujals to sophomore wide receiver Brendan Flaherty (Beverly, Mass.), cutting the Big Green lead to 24-21 with 2:15 remaining.
• The Crusaders had one last possession in the closing minutes, but were unable to pick up a first down as Dartmouth held on for the win.
