WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman guard R.J. Johnson has been named the Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 25-31. He averaged 12.5 points and 2.5 assists per game last week, while hitting 52.9 percent of his field goal attempts (nine of 17) and 85.7 percent of his free throws (six of seven).
During Saturday's overtime game with Colgate, Johnson scored 13 points. Then in Sunday's game against the Raiders, he added 12 points and four assists. Those two performances marked the second and third highest scoring totals of Johnson's Holy Cross career.
On the season, Johnson has averaged 7.8 points and a team-best 4.6 assists per game, and has connected on 82.6 percent of his free throws (19 of 23).
The Crusaders currently stand 2-8 overall and 2-8 in the Patriot League.
