WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior forward Gerrale Gates has been named the Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 18-24. He averaged 25.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week, while hitting 59.4 percent of his field goal attempts (19 of 32) and 75.0 percent of his foul shots (12 of 16).
During Saturday's game against Lehigh, Gates posted his second double-double of the season when he totaled 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Then in Sunday's game against the Mountain Hawks, he led the team with 27 points, four rebounds and two steals. Gates set a new career high in scoring in both games last week, and has now eclipsed the 20-point mark in three straight games.
On the season, Gates has averaged a team-high 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest, and has connected on 50.5 percent of his shots from the floor and 74.1 percent of his free throws.
The Crusaders (2-6 overall, 2-6 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30, when they play host to Boston University at 2:00 p.m.
