Senior guard Austin Butler has been named the Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 4-10. Butler led the Holy Cross men’s basketball team to a 2-2 record in four games last week.

Butler opened the week by totaling 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the season opening 83-76 loss to Boston University. He then recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals in Tuesday’s 68-66 victory over Boston University. Butler followed that up by tallying 16 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s 83-68 loss to Army. He concluded the week by posting a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds in Sunday’s 70-61 win at Army.

On the season, Butler leads the team by averaging 17.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, while hitting 58.0 percent of his field goal attempts and 63.2 percent of his shots from three-point range. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now 1,135 points, 469 rebounds, 172 assists and 107 steals in 97 games played.

The Crusaders (2-2 overall, 2-2 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Jan. 16, when they travel to Colgate.
