Over her four-year career with the Holy Cross women’s track and field team, Jillian Purtell has been one of the team’s most versatile athletes, competing in the long jump, triple jump and hurdles.
In January, Purtell had one of the strongest hurdling performances of her career at a dual meet against the University of New Hampshire, where she qualified for the finals of the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 8.79 seconds in the prelims. She went on to finish second in the finals, earning seven points for the Crusaders, who eventually took the team victory over UNH.
Purtell’s personal bests include a time of 9.39 in the 60 meter hurdles, 15.70 in the 100 meter hurdles, 5.32 meters in the long jump and 10.73 meters in the triple jump.
A talented vocalist, Purtell (Taunton, Mass.) has also performed at the department’s Crusader Awards. She will earn her degree from Holy Cross’ interdisciplinary studies program, and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll multiple times in her career.
