Senior safety Curtis Harris-Lopez of the Holy Cross football team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from Nov. 11 to 17.
Harris-Lopez’s pick-six was critical in a comeback victory by the Crusaders, who overcame a 21-3 first-half deficit and earned a 40-38 win over Bucknell in a key Patriot League matchup on Saturday, Nov. 16.
After Holy Cross rallied from its early deficit, Harris-Lopez picked off Bucknell quarterback Ralph Rucker IV and ran for a 56-yard touchdown return to put the Crusaders in the lead for the first time all day, 37-31, with 11:49 to go in the fourth.
It was the second interception by Harris-Lopez this year, and the first pick-six by the Crusaders all season.
The captain has been a leader on defense all season for Holy Cross, with a team-best 9.5 tackles for loss on the year; he has also totaled 53 tackles and five pass breakups.
Harris-Lopez and the Crusaders (5-6, 4-1 Patriot League) head to Georgetown for their regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
