Senior forward Meggan Fourie of the Holy Cross field hockey team has been selected as the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for the week of Aug. 26 - Sept. 1.
Fourie scored her first three goals of the season, leading the Crusaders to their first 2-0 start since the 2006 season. On Friday, Aug. 30 against Stonehill, Fourie netted the first goal of the 2024 campaign for Holy Cross, giving the team the 1-0 lead in the closing minutes of the first quarter. In Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against LIU, Fourie cut the Sharks' lead to 2-1 with a penalty stroke goal in the opening minutes of the second quarter before tipping in a pass across the circle to tie the game at 3-3 in the closing minute of the third quarter. Fourie leads the Patriot League in goals, with three, and points, with six, through the first weekend of play.
The Crusaders (2-0, 0-0 PL) return to action on Friday, Sept. 6 when they travel to Fairfield, Conn. for a 4 p.m. matchup with Fairfield University.
