Senior Bailey Chavez of the Holy Cross softball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for April 18-April 24.
Chavez appeared in all five games for the Crusaders this past week slashing .471/.500/.588 for a 1.088 OPS with three RBI, two doubles, three runs scored, and a walk. Chavez currently has a five-game hitting streak and three multiple hit games over her past five contests raising her batting average from .204 to .240 in the process.
Taking the series 2-1 against Patriot League opponent, Army this past weekend, Chavez hit .455 and recorded a 1.136 OPS, three RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored. In the 7-2 win on Sunday, Chavez went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI, two doubles and a run scored.
The conference leader in sacrifice bunts with 14, Chavez is second in all of NCAA Division I in sacrifice bunts per game with 0.34.
The Crusaders (16-28, 5-10 PL) are set to duel Merrimack (8-23, 4-11 NEC) Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
