Senior right-handed pitcher Nick Escoto of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for competition from March 7 to 13.Â
Escoto led the Crusaders in wins over VMI on Wednesday, March 9 and Richmond on Sunday, March 13. He allowed just one earned run over seven innings of relief, conceding just two total hits and striking out five.Â
Against VMI, Escoto combined with starting pitcher Nate Chudy to throw a one-hitter. Escoto pitched five innings against the Keydets, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out a career-high four batters to earn a save as the Crusaders defeated VMI by a score of 5-1.
Escoto earned his first career win in the Crusaders’ 9-7 victory against Richmond on Sunday, throwing two innings of one-hit ball to quell a comeback attempt by the Spiders.Â
This season, Escoto owns a 1-1 record and has posted two saves with a 4.63 ERA in 11.2 innings of work.Â
Escoto and the Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, March 15 at Boston College. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
