Junior catcher
Angelo D'Acunto of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named the Crusader of the Week for competition from March 29 to April 4.
D'Acunto started every game at catcher in a 5-0 week for the Crusaders, batting .353 with a double and pair of RBI while also throwing out two runners.
In a 10-inning, 3-2 walkoff victory over Bucknell on Sunday night, D'Acunto scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth, and later delivered the game-winning hit with an RBI single up the middle in the 10
th inning.
Behind the plate, D'Acunto caught all four games of a weekend sweep against Bucknell on Saturday and Sunday, in which the Crusaders' pitching staff held the Bison to just three earned runs and five total runs.
D'Acunto had at least one hit in every game this week and is on a six-game hitting streak. This year, D'Acunto is batting .289, and has thrown out a league-high five runners stealing this season.
D'Acunto and the Crusaders will be in action next against Merrimack on Wednesday, April 7. First pitch at Fitton Field is set for 6 p.m.
