Sophomore guard Avery LaBarbera of the Holy Cross women’s basketball team has been named the ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week for competition from Nov. 18 to 24. LaBarbera helped lead the Crusaders to a perfect 2-0 week in contests against Bryant on Nov. 20 and Merrimack on Nov. 23.
LaBarbera averaged 22 points and eight rebounds per game while also totaling 11 assists and seven steals with just one turnover. She went 7-for-12 (.583) from 3-point range and shot .552 from the field.
In the team's 87-75 win vs. Bryant, she had 25 points -- the second-highest total of her career -- on 9-for-12 shooting with five assists, no turnovers and three steals. In a 68-42 victory over Merrimack on Saturday, LaBarbera had the second double-double of her career with a 19-point, 10-rebound showing, along with six assists and four steals.
LaBarbera currently ranks seventh in the nation with a 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio and also leads Holy Cross with 18.3 points per game, 18 assists and eight steals.
The women’s basketball team will next be in action on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Brown.
