Walt Housman

Walt Housman is in his second season on Tom Gilmore’scoaching staff in 2010, serving as the defensive line coach. Duringthe 2009 campaign, he was a volunteer assistant coach for theCrusaders, working with the defensive ends. Housman joined HolyCross after spending the eight years as the defensive coordinatorfor the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League from2001-2008.

Housman was previously the linebackers coach at St. Anselm in2000 and the defensive line coach at Central Connecticut State in1999. He also spent seven seasons at South Dakota from 1992-1998,serving as defensive coordinator for the final two years. Inaddition, he has collegiate coaching experience at Tulane andUpsala, and Arena Football League coaching experience with the NewEngland Seawolves, the Miami Hooters and the New Orleans Night.

A native of Merrimack, N.H., Housman is a 1987 graduate ofUpsala, where he was a three-year member of the football team. Hepreviously played at Iowa, and went on to play professionally withthe New Orleans Saints of the National Football League and in theArena Football League.
