Skip Guss enters his second season as head coach of the women'sgolf team in 2014-2015.
In his first year at the helm ofthe women's golf program, the Crusaders had five student-athletesnamed to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Guss comes to Holy Cross with anexpansive knowledge and many years of experience in the game ofgolf. A graduate of Arizona State University, Guss qualified forthe PGA Tour in 1977 and was a member until 1978. He later became aClass A teaching professional for the PGA of America in 1982,giving more than 32,000 golf lessons since then. Guss waspersonally instructed by Sam Snead (World Golf Hall of Fame), JackGrout (Jack Nicklaus’ life-long instructor) and Peter Kostis(CBS golf analyst).
Recently, Guss was a qualifyingmedalist and participant in the 2005 United States Senior Open andwas the winner of the 2005 Rhode Island Senior Open. Over thecourse of his professional golf career, Guss has won over 30individual tournaments.
Guss is the owner of the GolfRitePerformance Center in Southborough, Mass., where he providespersonalized instruction and video lessons to his clients. Hisformer students include LPGA, PGA and Champions Tour tournamentwinners as well as a U.S. Amateur champion and a Walker Cup member.He was voted as the fifth best golf teacher in Massachusetts by hispeers in 2013, which was published in the November issue ofGolf Digest. In 2014, Guss was named the PGA of NewEngland Teacher of the Year.
