Matthew Cerullo enters his fifth year at Holy Cross in 2025-26 and first as Associate Director of Athletic Communcations. He is currently the primary media contact for the Crusaders men’s basketball, baseball, volleyball and tennis programs.
While on The Hill, Cerullo has publicized three Patriot League Tournament Championships (women's basketball: 2023, 2024, baseball: 2025) and Regular-Season Championships (women's basketball: 2022, 2024, baseball: 2025), two Patriot League Players of the Year (Avery LaBarbera - women's basketball - 2022; CJ Egrie - baseball - 2025), a Patriot League Pitcher of the Year (Jaden Wywoda - baseball - 2025) as well as 2024 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Bronagh Power-Cassidy. He pitched the NCAA a student-athlete feature story (Abbie Lane) that was publicized in the 2023 Volleyball Championship Program and was awarded the 2023 Holy Cross Volleyball Fall Assist Award given annually to the person(s) to have had the most significant positive impact on the teams season. Cerullo has promoted 11 Academic All-Patriot League selections while at Holy Cross.
Cerullo joined Holy Cross following a three month stint at the University of Southern Maine, a Division III institution in Gorham, Me. While at USM he was the primary media contact for the women’s volleyball, ice hockey, golf and cross country programs. He assisted with graphic design, game programs, digital media, internet broadcast, and special event programming as a Husky.
Before USM, Cerullo spent five years as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Franklin Pierce University, a Division II University in Rindge, N.H. At Pierce, Cerullo was the primary media contact for 10 Division II sports. He traveled with, the men's golf program, to the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship where he served as a team administrator. He also went on the road with men's golf for back-to-back-to-back NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional appearances in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and was the team administrator at the regionals in 2018 and 2019 as well. In fall 2019, Cerullo played a pivotal role in hosting the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship - Super Region 1 Second Round for the first time at Franklin Pierce since 2011. He then traveled with the team to the Super Region 1 Third Round, and Quarterfinals (Regional Championship Game) in Erie, Pa.
While at Pierce, Cerullo also led an aggressive social media campaign (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram) during the fall of 2017 which resulted in the women's golf program being selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Team of the Month for September. He also promoted and publicized three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and three CoSIDA Academic All-District athletes.
Prior to Franklin Pierce, Cerullo spent time as a graduate assistant at Regis (Mass.) College for a year and two months before filling the role of Interim Sports Information Director for the remainder of the academic year. He graduated with his master's in organizational & professional communications from Regis in May 2016.
Cerullo is a 2013 graduate from Nichols College with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in sports management. Before his time at Regis, he also served as an intern in the Sports Information department at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
