Guillermo Sanchez is in his fourh year as anassistant coach at the College of the Holy Cross in 2009-2010.Sanchez's primary responsibilities include recruiting and handlingall team travel. He is also heavily involved in opponent scouting,academic advising, game preparation and player development.
Holy Cross has an overall record of 58-37 duringSanchez's first three seasons on the staff, posting a winningrecord each year. In 2006-2007, he helped the Crusaders to anoverall record of 25-9, while winning the Patriot League regularseason and tournament titles, and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.During the 2008-2009 season, Sanchez helped Holy Cross to a secondplace finish in the Patriot League.
Sanchez came to Holy Cross from AssumptionCollege, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2005-2006season. He previously served as an assistant coach at DominicanCollege in Orangeburg, N.Y., during the 2004-2005 campaign, helpingthe Chargers to a sixth place finish in the Central AtlanticAthletic Conference.
A native of Washington Heights, N.Y., Sanchezgraduated from Holy Cross in 2002 with a bachelor's degree ineconomics and spanish. He was a three-year letterwinner for theCrusaders during the 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons,and was a part of two teams which won Patriot League titles andadvanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Away from the court, Sanchez is the co-founder of the NewHeights non-profit organization. The New Heights proudly representsthe growth of the Washington Heights community, where it startedthe Carlos M. Perez Memorial Basketball Games, and expanded itsmission to take talented young people to "New Heights" ofeducation, self-esteem, creativity and success.
