Christina Putigna enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Holy Cross women’s ice hockey team in 2024-2025.

Putigna joins the Crusaders after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for Worcester State University from 2021-2024, helping lead the team to three straight ECHA Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. During her time at Worcester State, she also served as a skill development lead and head coach for Militia Hockey Club (2020-2024) where she prepared, organized and led skill based sessions to prepare athletes to be successful competitors through focused and effective training.

Before and during her coaching career, Putigna played professional hockey for the Boston Pride from 2019-2023. With the Pride she won the regular season championship in 2020 and the Isobel Cup championship in 2021 and 2022. Putigna was also the team’s leading scorer in 2021, while being selected to play in the NWHL All-Star Game from 2019-2022. 

Putigna earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Management from Providence College in 2019. She played ice hockey for the Friars, serving as an assistant captain in the 2018-2019 season and scoring 110 points over her four years. She also received two invitations to the Hockey Canada Development Team Camp and was selected to the under-22 Canadian roster. 


Playing Career

  • Played for the Boston Pride from 2019-2023. 
  • Leading scorer for the Pride in 2021. 
  • Selected for the NWHL All-Star Game from 2019-2022. 
  • Selected to Canada Under-22 Development Team which played a three-game series with Team USA in 2016 and 2017. 
  • Served as an Assistant Captain at Providence in 2018-2019. 
  • Named a Hockey East Top Performer nine times and Rookie of the Week three times. 
  • Named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team in 2019.
