Mike Lucas is in his 18th season as head coach of the Holy Cross women's tennis team in 2020-21. He first served as the team's head coach from 1999-2009, and has currently been in the position since the beginning of the 2014-2015 season. Lucas also served as the head coach of the Holy Cross men’s tennis program from 2003-2009.

As head coach of the women’s tennis team, Lucas has led the Crusaders to a winning record seven times. In 2016, he coached the Crusaders to the first Patriot League Tournament victory in program history with a 4-2 win over Lafayette in the first round. Lucas also guided the career of Kirsten Meahl, became just the third Crusader ever to earn All-Patriot League accolades when she was selected to the second team in 2009.

Lucas’ best season came in 2002-2003, when he piloted Holy Cross to a program-best 18-2 overall record and the school’s first-ever New England Championship.

Lucas is currently the principal at Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, Mass., a position which he continues to hold in addition to his coaching duties. Prior to first becoming the coach at Holy Cross, Lucas was the varsity boys’ tennis coach at Tantasqua for 10 seasons. In that time, he helped develop one of the top high school tennis programs in the state, capturing nine straight conference championships. Lucas is also a certified member of the Professional Tennis Registry.

Lucas is a 1990 graduate of Fordham University where he was a four-year varsity letterwinner in both tennis and squash under coach Bob Hawthorn, serving as a captain his senior year. In 1993, he earned a master’s degree in teaching from Boston College.
