Lindsay Mayer enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Holy Cross softball program in 2022.
During her first season on The Hill, Mayer helped lead Holy Cross to a 21-29, 8-10 PL mark, their first season of 20 or more wins since 1999 and the team tied the third highest single-season win total in program history. The eight conference wins were the most for the team since 2017 (8-10) and the Crusaders 9-4 (.692) home record was their best record since 2003 (10-9, .526).
Mayer helped coach two National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region honorees, Megan Yurchick (second team) and Kelly Nelson (third team) while Nelson (first team), Yurchick (second team) and Jessica Mott (second team) earned All-Patriot League honors as well. Academically, Jessie Nagel was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team at designated player while Kelly Nelson and Jessica Mott were Academic All-Patriot League selections.
Mayer joined the Crusaders following three years as an assistant for Division I Hofstra University. As a member of Jay Miller’s coaching staff, she helped the program achieve national rankings coming in first in the nation in double plays per game in 2019 and 2021 as well as 30th and 33rd in batting average respectively while ranking fifth in steals per game and ninth in triples per game in 2021.
For the Pride, Mayer assisted in day-to-day operations, planning recruiting, and developing players. During her first season, she helped mentor six All-CAA selections and four NFCA All-Northeast Region honors. She was integral in the organization of camps, clinics, and fundraisers while enriching alumni relations with the programs and developing a strong social media presence.
As a player, Mayer competed for three seasons at Fordham University after spending her freshman campaign at the University of Virginia. When she was named Player of the Year in 2016, she batted .343 with 43 RBIs, while also posting a 6-0 record and 3.42 ERA in the circle. Mayer was also a two-time NFCA All-Region and All-Atlantic 10 selection with the Rams. She also excelled in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors in 2016. Mayer graduated from Fordham in June 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and media studies.
Before Hofstra, Mayer had a stint as an assistant coach at Wagner College and was a private instructor and club coach.
A native of Lincoln, R.I., Mayer earned her master’s of education degree in higher education leadership and policy studies from Hofstra in December 2019.
