Holy Cross Athletics

Shawn McCabe is in his seventh season as an assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach at the College of the Holy Cross in 2026-27. McCabe joins the crusaders after spending the six years as the throwing coach at Worcester State University. McCabe will continue his focus on throwing events while at Holy Cross.

In 2026, McCabe helped Grace Ryan qualify for the East First Round of the Division I NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the javelin. Ryan qualified with a personal-best mark of 46.95m, which she set at the Raleigh Relays on Mar 26. The mark shattered her previous school record of 42.88m from the season prior. Ryan is just the fifth Crusader in program history to represent Holy Cross women's track and field at the NCAA East First Round, and the first to do so since Christa Jay Moore '21, who competed in the pole vault in 2019 and 2021.

While at Worcester State, he coached a combined 27 conference champions across all throwing events for both the men’s and women’s programs. Additionally, McCabe oversaw the development of three All-Americans and the breaking of three school records.

McCabe holds an undergraduate degree in History/Secondary Education from Worcester State and a masters in Exercise Science/Strength and Conditioning from Concordia University of Chicago. While at Worcester State, he was a member of the men’s track and field team and was a multiple time All-MASCAC selection.
