• Member of the swimming team at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
• Team captain during his senior year
• Twice named first team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, first team All-Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swimming & Diving League and Washington Post honorable mention All-Metropolitan
• Member of the 4x100 freestyle relay team that swam an All-America time
• Also swam for All Star Aquatics
