WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
James Ferraro and senior defender
Jeb Snead both scored goals, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Loyola (Md.) 4-2 at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 1-4-5 overall and 0-1-2 in the Patriot League, while the Greyhounds improve to 2-7-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Loyola opened the scoring with goals from Edwin Espinal-Elvir and Ben Schouten to take a 2-0 lead.
• With just 15 seconds left before halftime, Snead put Holy Cross on the board, cutting the deficit to 2-1 at the break.
• Early in the second half, Ferraro took a long pass from senior midfielder
Wade Johnson and found the back of the net, tying the game at 2-2.
• But the Greyhounds came back with goals by Tyler Flynn and Lukas Cortes to earn the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the day with an 14-6 advantage in shots.
• Holy Cross also held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
NEXT UP:
• The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they play host to Lehigh at 3 p.m.
