Softball drops series finale at Boston University on Sunday

BOSTON – The Holy Cross softball team fell to Boston University in game three of the weekend series by a final score of 23-8 in five innings on Sunday, Apr. 26.

AT THE PLATE: HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Holy Cross jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
  • Boston University responded with four runs in the bottom frame, taking a 4-3 lead.
  • RBI knocks by freshman Bella Nugent and junior Ava Gambichler highlighted a five run top of the inning for the Crusaders, putting them ahead 8-4.
  • BU's Kylie Doherty hit a three run home run in the bottom of the second inning to cut Holy Cross' lead to 8-7.
  • The Terriers tacked on three more runs, ending the bottom of the second leading 10-8.
  • BU scored 13 runs across the third and fourth innings, winning 23-8 in five innings.
UP NEXT: 
  • The Crusaders will play their final non-conference games of the regular season on Tuesday, Apr. 29, traveling to the University of New Haven for a doubleheader. 
  • First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. followed by game two at 4:30 p.m.
