Moreau, Kenney named 2023-24 Turnpike Trophy Top Performers

WORCESTER, Mass. – After an exciting race in the 2023-24 Turnpike Trophy rivalry, Holy Cross and Boston University have announced the 2023-24 Turnpike Trophy Top Performers via fan voting.

Each school conducted polls with three female nominees and three male nominees based on their performances in BU-Holy Cross competitions over the past year, and the top vote-getters comprise the list of Turnpike Trophy Top Performers. The winners of the Crusaders' polls were Alexia Moreau (women's ice hockey) and Caleb Kenney (men's basketball), while the Terriers' winners were Kyle Falkstrom (men's swimming and diving) and Caitlin Weimer (women's basketball).

Kenney had a stellar showing for the Crusaders in a nationally televised 65-63 win over BU on Jan. 29. He secured a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, while also blocking seven shots. The seven blocks were the third-highest single-game total in school history, and the second-highest single-game mark in Hart Center history.

Moreau led Holy Cross to its first Hockey East Tournament win in program history when the Crusaders upset seventh-seeded BU on Feb. 28. With the Terriers leading by a score of 2-1 late in the first period, Moreau scored back-to-back goals, including the game-winner halfway through the second period, to lift Holy Cross to victory.

Other Holy Cross nominees were Bronagh Power-Cassidy (women's basketball), Julia Walsh (women's soccer), Declan O'Flynn (men's tennis) and Charlie Nascimben (men's swimming and diving.

The 2024-25 Turnpike Trophy competition will kick off on Friday, Oct. 4 when the field hockey team heads to Boston to face the Terriers. Holy Cross and BU will face off in women's soccer on Oct. 16, and the men's soccer programs will play each other on Nov. 5.
