MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Holy Cross men's golf team finished in 10th place at the Surf Club Invitational hosted by Appalachian State. The men competed against 17 other teams at The Surf Golf and Beach Club. Sophomore Matthew Williams finished the competition tied for eighth place.
Williams paced all Crusaders firing a 73 and 67 on the first day of two rounds. On the final day of play he shot a 69 for a 209 (-4) performance which gave him a share of eighth place.
After three rounds of the 72-hole course, the Crusaders finished with a score of 857 (+5) as a team.
COACH'S CORNER:
"This was a solid team effort with contributions from everyone in the lineup. Matthew Williams '26 finished in 8th place individually at four under par with rounds of 73,67 & 69. Ryan Scollins '27 was close behind at even par for the tournament on the strength of his bogey-free opening round 69," said director of golf Steve Napoli. "Our 10th place finish is somewhat misleading due to the strength of the field. Tee to green our ball striking was solid, we led the field in both the number of pars for the tournament and par three scoring."
