Crusader Quarterly with Kit Hughes | Nov. 2024

Crusader Quarterly with Kit Hughes

Dear Crusaders,

In the past few weeks, I have reflected greatly on the concept of gratitude — of course, with Thanksgiving approaching, but also as we have remembered the late Ronald S. Perry, whose kindness, grace and commitment to service set the standard for Crusader athletics for three quarters of a century.

Gratitude has also been present as we have wrapped up our fall seasons and reflected on the myriad of ways that we can improve our programs to best serve our talented student-athletes. That process of thorough self-reflection and honest assessment is the part of our collective work that allows for tremendous individual growth, but it is also a distinguishing characteristic of any great team — which is exactly what we aspire to become. The work can be challenging, uncomfortable, and certainly not for everyone, but is required for any program committed to achieving comprehensive excellence. I am grateful for the opportunity to do this work with my coaches, staff and student-athletes — along with the unwavering support of our community — during this season of Thanksgiving and always.

As our fall seasons wind to a close and winter is in full swing, you can read more about an action-packed autumn and everything that is on the horizon in the coming months. It should be an exciting winter season, and I hope to see you all on The Hill soon!

Go Cross Go!
