WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team took on Bucknell at home for a conference game on Saturday, Sept. 30. After a hard fought battle on both sides of the field, neither team scored and the match resulted in a 0-0 tie.
Junior goalkeeper Julia Walsh continues her shutout streak with now four in a row in goal for the Crusaders. The Holy Cross backline blocked a total of two shots in the game with Walsh coming up with six big saves to keep the Bison off the scoreboard.
Senior Allie Waters took four shots, senior Ellie Zern attempted three shots and sophomore Olivia Perez, senior Allie Raynor and freshman Karenna Beckstein got off two shots on the day.
"I thought we were excellent today. I can't say it was a complete performance because we were missing the goal, but I thought we worked hard. We competed, we won most of the balls in the air. I'm very, very proud of the girls," said head coach Ben Graham. "We still just need to start converting our domination into goals, into wins. But it's a point we keep moving forward and we'll look forward to welcoming Lehigh, where we'll honor our seniors, next weekend."

PLAYER QUOTES:

"Today I definitely think that the tie was a victory. Although we had plenty of opportunities to show the growth of our program, in terms of performance, I just try to do my job the best that I can. My defense makes it easy. The back four were absolutely solid today. We really limited the other team's opportunities, we're just missing that final push. But I do believe that we can get it. Only time will tell, and I'm excited to see what the next few games are gonna look like for our team." #28 Julia Walsh

"I am really proud of how the team played. It was a great team performance. The defense was there. Our back line played amazing. We worked a lot on defending, one person stepping, three dropping this week, we implemented that perfectly. Attacking wise, we had really good buildup. It was the best I've ever seen us connect on passes. We're just missing the shot, but I have full faith and confidence in our team for that. Next week, we're gonna come out with a win." #27 Emily Bubonovich

"I think we did really well. We came off a little defensive in the first half, didn't really get forward too much, but had our halftime talk and came back super angry, super excited just because last year we played them, it wasn't a great game and we really wanted revenge. We came out really strong in the second half. We wanted to work hard, compete, get forward, and that's what we did. We had a lot of options up top, through balls, got some crosses off, some great shots. I think we ended up with like 16 shots at the end of the game. Unfortunately we couldn't score and get the win, but proud of the team and like how we did." #17 Olivia Perez

"I am so proud of how the whole team played today, especially the back line was incredible. Came in clutch in very tight situations. We're just able to perform. We didn't really miss a beat. We came a long way from last year, so I'm very happy with the performance. Of course, I would love a win, but a very solid game. I'm happy with it." #8 Francesca Ciatto

"I was really proud of our team's performance today. I thought we had some of the best passing and movement that we've had all season. I'm just really excited to carry this momentum into these next few games for the rest of the Patriot League. It's coming. We're so close to scoring. We're right there. We just need to put that extra push, extra touch to just get in the back of the net. But I'm really excited with how the team performed and I think this is great momentum to carry us on." #18 Karenna Beckstein
