HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Holy Cross softball program fell twice to Patriot League foe Colgate on Saturday afternoon at the Eaton Street Softball Complex. The Raiders earned a 12-2 run rule victory in game one before defeating the Crusaders 7-5 in game two.
The two setbacks send Holy Cross to 8-25 and they remain winless in league play while Colgate improves to 13-18 and 4-1 in conference action.

GAME ONE: RAIDERS 12, CRUSADERS 2 (FINAL – 6 INN.):

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Bailey Misken: W (6-7), complete game, four hits, zero earned runs, three walks, seven strikeouts.
- Freshman Sophia Roncone: L, (2-11), 4.0 innings pitched, six hits, four earned runs, six walks, five strikeouts.
IN RELIEF:
- Junior Megan Yurchick: 1.1 innings pitched, three hits allowed, five earned runs, four walks, two strikeouts.
- Senior Audrey Gusel: 0.1 innings pitched, two hits allowed, three earned runs, walk, strikeout.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Adrienne Nardone: 3-for-5, two home runs, five RBI, double, three runs scored.
- Quinn Livesay: 3-for-3, two doubles, RBI, run scored, walk.
- Kara Fusco: 2-for-5, three RBI.
- Rachel Carney: 1-for-2, three walks, stolen base, run scored.
- Freshman Ali Sniegocki: 2-for-4, double, RBI.
- Senior Kari Jacobson: 1-for-2, run scored, walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the bottom of the second, a leadoff double was the first hit of the ballgame for either team. Roncone got the next two outs, but walked three straight batters bringing in the first run of the contest. She struck out the final batter of the inning to keep the game at 1-0 in favor of the hosts.
- During the top of the third, the Crusaders had two runners reach base via singles, however Misken punched out the final two batters of the frame to keep the game scoreless.
- Colgate added onto their lead as another Livesay double plated a run.
- A two-run shot with one away in the home half of the fourth upped the Raiders edge to 4-0.
- Holy Cross dropped the deficit to two in the top of the fifth as Sniegocki singled home a run with the bases loaded to make it 4-2.
- An insurance run in the fifth and seven in the sixth completed the run rule victory for Colgate.

- Alexa Acker: W, (5-8), complete game, eight hits allowed, five runs – four earned, three walks, seven strikeouts.
- Megan Yurchick: L, (6-12), 1.1 innings pitched, five hits allowed, six earned runs, two walks.
IN RELIEF:
- Sophia Roncone: 4.2 innings pitched, one hit allowed, earned run, two walks, three strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Kara Fusco: 2-for-4, double, two RBI, run scored.
- Quinn Livesay: 1-for-3, two RBI, run scored.
- Jillian Herbst: 1-for-3, run scored, RBI.
- Sophomore Callie Thibault: 2-for-4, two RBI.
- Ali Sniegocki: 2-for-4.
- Bailey Bates: 1-for-4, double, two RBI, run scored.
- Senior Olivia Eckelman: 1-for-3, walk, two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A Bates double down the left field line scored junior Jessica Mott and gave the Crusaders an early 1-0 lead. With two outs, Thibault checked her swing and the ball dropped down the right field line for the 2-0 Crusader edge.
- Colgate responded with six runs in the bottom of the first getting a Livesay RBI single to jump ahead.
- Mott grounded out with two away in the top of the second to pull the team within three at 6-3.
- In the top of the fifth, Thibault notched her second RBI of the game flaring a single to right to drop the deficit to 7-4. A fielding error allowed another run to score as they trailed 7-5.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders will be back in action on Easter Sunday for the series finale with Colgate.
- First pitch is slated for noon.
