WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team was beaten 9-0 in six innings by Patriot League foe Boston University in a Turnpike Trophy showdown on Freshman Field Monday afternoon.

The win pushed the Terriers to 26-7, 3-0 PL while the Crusaders slid to 7-22, 0-6 PL.
 
STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:

• Kasey Ricard: W, (10-2), no-hitter, walk, 10 strikeouts.
• Junior Megan Yurchick: L, (6-11), 3.1 innings pitched, six hits allowed, four earned runs, two walks, strikeout.

IN RELIEF:

• Freshman Sophia Roncone: 1.2 innings pitched, six hits allowed, five earned runs, three walks, two strikeouts.
• Senior Audrey Gusel: 1.0 innings pitched.

STEPPING TO THE PLATE:

• Lauren Keleher: 3-for-4, double, run scored, four RBI.
• Caitlin Coker: 2-for-3, two triples, two RBI, run scored, walk, stolen base.
• Lauren Nett: 2-for-3, run scored, stolen base.
• Freshman Ali Sniegocki: 0-for-1, walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Kayla Roncin took the first pitch she saw in the top of the third for a triple off the right field wall with two outs. A walk and a steal put runners at second and third, however, Yurchick struck out Gant swinging to strand both runners in scoring position.
• In the fourth, BU took the lead 1-0 when Kate Pryor tripled to right to score the first run. Coker capped off the scoring in the fourth narrowly missing a home run tripling to center for the 5-0 edge.
• Coker tripled again in the sixth to plate a run and Gant singled through the left side to make it 9-0.

DUE UP:

• The Crusaders are back in action on Thursday, April 6 for a twinbill versus Hartford.
• First pitch is scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
