WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Holy Cross softball team dropped a pair of contests on Sunday afternoon in Patriot League action falling to Army West Point 9-6 in game one before being run ruled 8-0 in game two at the Softball Complex.
The defeats sent the Crusaders to 5-19, 0-3 PL on the season while the Black Knights climbed to 10-20, 3-0 PL with the two victories.

GAME ONE: BLACK KNIGHTS 9, CRUSADERS 6 (FINAL):

- Olivia Farris: ND, 1.1 innings pitched, six runs – four earned, four hits allowed.
- Junior Megan Yurchick: ND, 4.1 innings pitched, six runs – three earned, two strikeouts, six hits allowed.

- Breanna Izzo: W, (4-1), 5.2 innings pitched, four hits allowed.
- Freshman Sophia Roncone: L, (1-9), 0.2 innings pitched, three earned runs, three hits allowed.
- Senior Peyton Morehouse: 1.0 innings pitched, one hit allowed.

- Maddie Wilkes: 1-for-2, home run, three RBI, run scored.
- Kayla Edwards: 2-for-4, two RBI, double
- Ashton White: 1-for-4, stolen base, RBI, run scored.
- Freshman Anna Brait: 2-for-4, RBI.
- Junior Jessica Mott: 1-for-3, run scored, double.
- Senior Peyton Morehouse: 1-for-3, two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A fielder's choice RBI in the bottom of the first gave Army their first lead at 1-0.
- The Crusaders responded in the top of the second for six runs. Morehouse gave the Crusaders the lead lining an opposite field single to right field for the 2-1 edge. A Brait single up the middle increased the score to 5-1. Classmate Ali Sniegocki followed with an RBI groundout to push the margin to 6-1.
- The Black Knights pulled within four when Edwards doubled in the third.
- Wilkes bashed a three run homer to left center to regain the lead to the Army side in the fifth at 7-6.
- Insurance tallies in the sixth wrapped up the game.

- Amanda Eaglin W, (3-5), complete game, shutout, two hits allowed, two walks, four strikeouts.
- Megan Yurchick: L, (4-9), 1.2 innings pitched, seven earned runs, four walks, three hits allowed.
IN RELIEF:
- Senior Audrey Gusel: 2.1 innings pitched, five hits allowed, one walk.
- Sophomore Jena Whipple: 0.1 innings pitched, one unearned run, one walk, one hit allowed.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Grace Snyder: 3-for-3, run scored, double.
- Ashton White: 1-for-2, double, four RBI, run scored.
- Angelina Bebek: 2-for-3, RBI, run scored.
- Anna Brait: 1-for-2.
- Sophomore Emma Fong: 1-for-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Army scored seven runs over the opening two frames including a White double and Wilkes single to make it 7-0.
- A fielding error resulted in the run rule in the fifth for Army.
- Holy Cross mustered only two hits in the game.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross will look to end their losing streak on Wednesday, March 29 with nonconference action at Stonehill
- First pitch is slated for 2 and 4:30 p.m.
