Holy Cross falls to Colgate in final game

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated 4-1 Wednesday night by Patriot League opponent Colgate, ending their 2022 season.

This was a must-win for both teams in order to clinch a seed in the postseason, in addition to a Navy loss/tie. Navy won their match against Lafayette, meaning Colgate will not advance to the postseason.

The setback finalizes the Crusaders' season record at 2-11-4, (2-6-1 Patriot League) while the Raiders finish at 3-10-4 (3-4-2 Patriot League).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Crusaders started the scoring at 27:16 in the first half with a goal from senior Colleen McIlvenna. She was assisted by senior Katie Quinn.
  • The Raiders answered with the equalizer ten minutes later with a goal from Ally Giovino.
  • Holy Cross led in shots (4-2) and corners (2-1) going at the half.
  • Colgate managed to score two more goals in the second half, forcing the Crusaders' season to come to an end.
INSIDE THE BOX:
