Field hockey victorious at Colgate

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's field hockey team edged Patriot League opponent the Colgate University Raiders, 2-1.

The win sends the Crusaders to 5-8 and the Raiders to 3-12 on the season. Senior forward Rachel Perry scored the game-winning goal for the Crusaders.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Holy Cross secured the early lead with a goal 6:47 into the first quarter by senior forward Isabella Henderson with an assist from sophomore forward Meggan Fourie.
  • The Raiders retaliated with a goal from Sarah Killcommons to tie the score at 9:15 of the first quarter.
  • Perry scored the game winner 6:48 into the third quarter and concluded the scoring activity for the contest.
 
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
  • The game-winner marks the first goal of the season for Perry.
  • This marks the first road conference win of the season for Holy Cross.
  • Junior goaltender Brooke Ross made three saves in the cage compared to Colgate's two.
  • Freshman defender Megan Schienbein earned the first defensive save of her collegiate career in the fourth quarter of play.
UP NEXT:
  • The Crusaders will return to action when they host Long Island on Sunday, Oct. 16 at noon.
