WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated 2-1 Wednesday night by Patriot League opponent Boston University.

The setback keeps the Crusaders (0-10-4, 0-5-1 Patriot League) while the Terriers improve to 9-6 (5-1 Patriot League) following the chippy and physical affair.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Terriers started the scoring 1:36 into the first half with a goal from Morgan Fagan.
• The Crusaders answered back shortly with a goal from senior midfielder/forward Melanie Lytle, her first of the season at 14:58. Sophomore forward Ashley Blaka recorded the assist.
• Boston took the lead, once again, with a goal at 25:22 from a free kick.
• The Crusaders had a few opportunities late in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net. 
• Senior Izzy Castagnetti recorded two saves on the night in her second start of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX:

• Ashley Blaka leads the Crusaders in points (4) and is tied with junior forward Ellie Zern for most assists with two apiece. 
• Holy Cross was outshot 16-5 with Boston recording nine shots in second half. 
• The Terriers finished the night with seven corner kicks to the Crusaders' one. 

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross remains home on Saturday, October 15 for a conference match with Lafayette at 12:00 p.m. The Crusaders will be honoring their seniors during a special pre-game ceremony.
