The Holy Cross women's soccer team returns home to play host to Boston University for a 7 p.m. match on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (0-9-4, 0-4-1 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 0-9-4 overall and 0-4-1 in the Patriot League this year. In their first four conference games of the season, the Crusaders tied American (1-1) and lost to Army (1-0), Lehigh (1-0), and Bucknell (5-1). In their most recent Patriot League contest, the Crusaders fell to Loyola (Md.) 1-0.
• Sophomore forwardÂ
Ashley Blaka leads the Crusaders in points with three. Most recently, she scored her first goal of the season against Bucknell.Â
• Junior forwardÂ
Ellie Zern leads the team in assists with two, acquiring her most recent assist on Blaka's goal at Bucknell. Blaka and junior forward
Samantha Adams have each tallied an assist on the year.Â
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin has recorded two shutouts on the year against Iona and Rhode Island. She enters the week with 52 saves, a save percentage of .754 and a goals-against average of 1.48.Â
Scouting the Terriers (8-6, 4-1 Patriot League):
• Boston enters the game with an overall mark of 8-6 and a 4-1 record in the Patriot League. In their first four conference matchups, the Terriers defeated Lafayette (2-1), Navy (1-0) and Lehigh (1-0) and lost to Colgate (1-0). On Saturday, Boston beat American (1-0).Â
• Sophomore forward Morgan Fagan leads the team in total points (11). Fagan and redshirt senior forward Amy Thompson lead the Terriers in goals scored (4).
• Junior forward Abigail McNulty has tallied the most assists with four.
• Senior goalie Gretchen Bennett and sophomore Celia Braun have split time in net for Boston. Bennett has one shutout on the year and has totaled 16 saves with a save percentage of .552 and goals-against average of 1.63. Braun has tallied 26 saves with save percentage of .813 and goals-against average of 1.00. She has two shutouts, her most recent against Harvard.Â
Series History:
• Boston University holds a 11-4-0 lead in the all-time series between the schools, which began in 1984.
• In the last meeting, the Terriers earned a 3-0 victory at Nickerson Field on October 13, 2021.
