The Holy Cross women's soccer team will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a pair of games this week. The Crusaders will play host to Rhode Island on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m., and then travel to Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1:00 p.m.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-5, 0-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 1-5 overall this year, but is coming off a 3-0 victory over Bryant in its last game on Sunday.
• Junior forward
Colleen McIlvenna scored her second goal of the season when set netted the game winner against Bryant. She previously scored her first career goal at Dartmouth on Aug. 27.
• Junior forward
Katie Quinn scored for the second time this season with a goal in the victory over Bryant. She is currently Holy Cross' active leading scorer with 12 points on five goals and two assists in 27 career games played.
• Freshman forward
Ashley Blaka earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 6, after scoring her first career points in the Bryant game. She tallied a goal and an assist against the Bulldogs.
• Freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin posted her first career shutout during the victory over Bryant, while making a career-high 19 saves against UMass Lowell in the season opener. She currently leads the Patriot League and ranks 17th in the nation with an average of 7.0 saves per game.
Scouting the Rams (0-3-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10):
• Rhode Island enters the week with an overall mark of 0-3-1 on the season. The Rams tied Providence 1-1 in their season opener, before falling to Northeastern, Brown and Boston University.
• Junior forward Brooke Cavino and junior midfielder Tali O'Leary have scored one goal each this season for Rhode Island.
• Sophomore Faith Hutchins has started all four of the Rams' games in goal, posting a 1.42 goals against average with 14 saves.
Scouting the Eagles (5-1, 0-0 ACC):
• Boston College has a 5-1 record on the year, and will face Harvard on Sept. 9 prior to the game with the Crusaders. The Eagles' only loss this season came at No. 12 South Carolina.
• Freshman forward Ella Richards leads the team in scoring with 14 points on six goals and two assists. She has scored two goals in a game twice this season, against Massachusetts and Kennesaw State.
• Freshman Wiebke Willebrandt has played every minute in goal for the Eagles this year, recording an 0.87 goals against average with 27 saves.
Series History with Rhode Island:
• The Rams holds an 11-6-1 lead in the all-time series between the schools, but the Crusaders stand 2-0-1 in the last three games.
• In the last meeting, on Sept. 12, 2019, Holy Cross and Rhode Island played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Kingston.
Olivia Ferrara scored a goal for the Crusaders, while
Sophia Lettieri made nine saves.
Series History with Boston College:
• The Eagles own a 19-0-1 advantage in the all-time series between the schools.
• The teams last played on Sept. 6, 2009, when 16th-ranked Boston College won 4-0 in Newton.
