Women’s soccer to open Patriot League play at American

The Holy Cross women's soccer team will play its first Patriot League contest of the season on Saturday, Sept. 18, when it travels to American for a 3:00 p.m. game.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-7, 0-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 1-7 overall this year and has lost two straight games since defeating Bryant 3-0 on Sept. 5. 
• Junior forward Colleen McIlvenna recorded assists on all three of the Crusaders' goals in Sunday's game at Boston College. She tied the school single-game record with her three assists, matching the marks of Audrey Smith (vs. Lafayette, Oct. 26, 1991) and Courtney Cohen (vs. St. Peter's, Sept. 11, 2015). On the season, McIlvenna leads the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and three assists.
• Junior forward Katie Quinn leads the team with three goals scored this season and ranks second on the squad with six points. Two of her three goals have come in the last three games, as she scored against both Bryant and Boston College. Quinn is currently Holy Cross' active leading scorer with 14 points on six goals and two assists in 29 career games played.
• Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Dubin posted her first career shutout during the victory over Bryant, while making a career-high 19 saves against UMass Lowell in the season opener. She currently leads the Patriot League and ranks 30th in the nation with an average of 6.5 saves per game.

Scouting the Eagles (3-4, 0-0 Patriot League):
• American enters the game with an overall mark of 3-4 on the season. The Eagles have lost their last two games, falling to Old Dominion (2-0) and Elon (1-0).
• Senior midfielder Tate Jordan and freshman midfielder Brooke Steel are tied for the team lead in goals scored with two each this year. 
• Freshman Julia Kato has started all seven of American's games in goal, posting a 1.43 goals against average with 33 saves.

Series History:
• The Eagles hold a 10-5-4 lead in the all-time series between the schools, but the Crusaders stand 3-1-2 over the last six games.
• In the last meeting, on Oct. 6, 2019, Holy Cross and American played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Washington. Mariah Brown scored a goal for the Crusaders, while Sophia Lettieri made four saves.
